Introducing DreamMeaningGuide.site

If we talk about the meaning of dreams are we wasting our time?

Isn’t it true that the real world we live in every day all day long is the place where we really live our lives?

Can anyone argue with the simple fact that as human beings we have to meet the demands of the real world in order to survive and thrive?

As soon as we ask ourselves these questions we find ourselves at a fork in the road where either we will be talking about the real world we live in all day long when we are awake, or we will be talking about the dreams we have when we are asleep.

Somehow, there is not really an obvious way to connect the two worlds. In terms of human society and civilization, scientific knowledge, and the rules, laws, and norms we live by there is an unmistakable emphasis placed continually on the importance of our waking lives. The way we talk to children when they are little, the way we teach students in school, and the way we plan our lives, all of these things deflect from the experience of our dreams while we sleep every night.

And so, even though we spend between one fourth and one third of our entire lives asleep and often dreaming, the factor of our dreams always receives short shrift in the real, waking world.

The reality of our dream lives is never treated as if they were the most important issue of our lives. Instead, we think about the importance of our education, our beliefs, our morals, our duties to one another and the world, and all the things that really matter when it comes to not just surviving but thriving in the real world.

Yet, for all the emphasis on our waking lives and for all the lack of concern we have for our dreams, there is one more undeniable truth. We all have dreams. Some of us remember our dreams in vivid detail. Some of us remember next to nothing. But we all know that there is nothing like getting a good night’s sleep and we all are fascinated by the power of our dreams.

There is something about the emotional experiences we have when we are dreaming that tends to stay with us. Even if we don’t remember all the details of a powerful dream, the emotional residue of it may linger with us for the rest of our lives. Even if we are scared of our own dreams, and especially scared of having nightmares, and worst of all we especially fear the dreaded recurring nightmare, somehow we end up stuffing all of it into a room downstairs in the cellar where we will do our best to ignore our dreams every day all day long.

The Paradox of the Dreamer
Why Dreams Matter More Than We Admit

If you have read this far then you will probably agree that there is a great paradox associated with our dream lives. Few aspects of our lives and few facets of the human experience have the draw, the gravity, the emotional impact, and the alluring fascination of our dreams. Ironically, we learn not to talk about our dreams too much.

Yet few things will be ignored as much every day all day long as our dream lives. This in and of itself comprises one of the greatest paradoxes of the human condition.

So what does it all mean? And now we have arrived at the $64 million dollar question: what is the meaning of our dreams?

And here is the point: you can run away from it as fast as you can, you can deny it all you want to, but you cannot get around the eternal, evergreen reality that punctuates the human condition with pervasive regularity: we dream. We’re all dreamers. We probably dream every night while we’re asleep. We have always been fascinated with our own dreams, and we have always been fascinated with the dreams of others.

What You Will Find on DreamMeaningGuide.site

It is safe to say that as our ancestors became what we would recognize as human, they probably framed their newfound humanity with a predilection for talking about their dreams and interpreting the meaning of their dreams. Although I don’t feel compelled to cite any academic literature to back up my point, I would venture to speculate that our ancestors must have been completely preoccupied with their dream lives.

Similarly, and in direct proportion, I would be willing to bet that the more scientifically and technologically advanced we became as creators of human civilized life, the less formal emphasis we placed on interpreting the meaning of our dreams. Indeed, in the Bible we see that ancient pharaohs and rulers placed enormous weight on accessing people who had a God-given talent for interpreting the meaning of dreams.

Yet even though today none of our global elites would advertise their need to access people who have a gift for interpreting the meaning of dreams, we still here rumors about world leaders who casually interact with psychics, astrologers, tarot card readers, and so on.

But the purpose of DreamMeaningGuide.site is not to promote fortune-telling of any kind. The purpose of DreamMeaningGuide.site is to promote any individual’s ability to cultivate an awareness of their own dream life as a psychological reality that deserves to be explored and interpreted. Although we do not associate interpreting the meaning of symbols or dreams as a purely scientific pursuit, it is impossible to deny the following characteristics and traits of the human experience: Humans make meaning and humans make symbols.

Humans have an unstoppable compulsion to communicate symbolically with one another using the specific and general symbols of language and our behavior. So, despite all of our scientific and Darwinian self-described superiority in the real world and the technologies we innovate to deliberate our work in the world, we all have a secret place reserved in our daily lives for wondering about our dreams. And once in a while we may talk about our dreams with others who appear sympathetic about the subject.

Yet, that only means we have resigned ourselves to a 21st century schizoid experience that splits the meaning we experience in our lives into at least two camps. One camp is where we wonder about the real world and how we are going to survive and thrive in it. The other camp is where we daydream about our lives and daydream about our night dreams, and wonder, “What could this possibly mean?”

Interestingly, you don’t have to wonder too much about what it all means when you talk about the real world of school, work, relationships, and money. We all know we live in a world where we have to make a living and share the fruits of our labors with our families. We may go through a crisis in the real, everyday world, but more often than not, we struggle to make our way without too much question about the meaning of our actions and our lives. We do what we have to do in order to eat and to have a roof over our heads. We do what we have to do to share our lives and the fruits of our labors with people we love and care about. And even though we may go through extraordinarily tough times, we keep going because we are resilient, tough, and relentlessly optimistic about what the future holds.

In other words, we secretly spend much more of our time wondering about the meaning of our dreams than we do wondering about the meaning of our jobs, or how to interpret the meaning of the stock market in the broader span of our lives. We take for granted the world we live in and we automatically tend to rise to the challenges we face in the waking world every day. More often than not we will scoff if someone tries to stop the music and ask us to consider what it all means. It is almost considered a joke if someone tries to question the meaning of life. We are all too busy enthralled in the challenges of living our lives to worry about what it all means. But this doesn’t stop us from wondering about the meaning of our dreams. We can spend our entire lives wondering about the meaning of a recurring nightmare.

At DreamMeaningGuide.site you will find your own getaway destination dedicated to musing over the meaning of your dreams. It would be almost impossible to live a human life and not to ever wonder about the meaning of your dreams. The same way we create symbols of to represent meaning in our lives, we cannot help but wonder how we might interpret the meaning of our own dream experiences. We may have experienced a recurring nightmare as a child, yet the confusion and scope of it may have never left our memories as adults.

We may have grappled with our interpretation of the meaning of a recurring nightmare as if solving a puzzle in an effort to decode a message our subconscious minds may have sent us. We may have engaged such thoughtful daydreaming about a recurring nightmare to the point that it has become one of the enduring themes of our waking lives. Since our minds are such complex meaning machines every day, all day long, it is not surprising that we would wonder about the meaning of our dreams. Deep inside ourselves we all carry the conviction that part of us is sending meaningful messages to our waking mind when we dream.

In a very real sense, it’s as if your dreams are the nightly messages your mind sends to itself.

Yet, during the day, we will probably keep it to ourselves. In the waking world we all learn the importance of one thing over and above all other things: the importance of being normal. The expectations of others in the social world function much as gravity does in the physical world. Part of learning how to be normal is learning to go along and not make waves. You learn not to stop the music and not to spend your entire day talking to everyone you meet about the meaning of your dreams. They might think you’re crazy. And what could be worse? Few things could be worse than someone saying that we are not behaving like a normal person, we are acting a little crazy. We want to avoid those kinds of labels like the plague.

But here we are … wondering about our dreams again. And the larger point is that we humans always have been somewhat obsessed with our dream lives and interpreting the meaning of our dreams. We always have been and we always will be. Fashion trends come and go. Language evolves and changes. Science innovates new technologies and new ways of understanding our world. But the dreamscape of our dream lives is always there in the background of our lives. And the more our modern lives change, the more one thing stays the same. We have to sleep and while we’re asleep it seems that we have to dream. No matter how you classify yourself or anybody else, the one thing we all have in common is that we all sleep and we all have dreams. We all have wondered about the meaning of our dreams.
